MAJOR AWARD WINNERS

This award is presented each year to a senior player who embodies the true spirit of our team. Named in honor of Coach Tom Poholsky—a champion of the underdog—it recognizes the player who never gave up, even when the odds were against them. Whether overlooked or underestimated, this athlete earned their place through perseverance, grit, and unwavering commitment. More than just a trophy, the recipient also receives a $1,000 scholarship, symbolizing not just recognition, but belief in their continued journey.

The athlete who has given his all at a given chance has gained from it.  He who has not, has lost that opportunity forever.  He who said, “It is just a game” better take a closer look.  It takes a little more to make a competitor.  It takes a lot more to make a champion.  He who plays without intensity plays with defeat.  Football is played first with heart and mind, secondarily with the body.  Preparation to win is important.  The will to win is vital. This award also comes with a $1,000 scholarship and is given to the senior player who best represents what being an Evergreen Cougar is all about.
